  • Assists in the operation and maintenance of buildings and grounds.

  • Assists with the fire safety program.

  • Assists in preventive maintenance and repair of equipment.

  • Assists to maintain an effective and efficiently operated department.

  • Completes work as listed on maintenance work orders.

  • Works effectively to complete the work on a timely basis.

  • Assists in conducting boiler maintenance.

  • Assists with stand-by generator testing in accordance with industry standards and completes log

  • Assists in maintaining proper functioning of all plumbing and electrical systems.

  • Assists in patiently training all new employees in the proper use of fire extinguishers and their locations in each department.

  • Assists in fire extinguisher, emergency lighting, fire alarms and other inspections.

  • Maintains proper functioning of all plumbing and electrical systems.

  • Follows maintenance schedule for all other equipment.

  • Assists in orientation of new department employees.

  • Assists in developing of policies and procedure for department.

  • Attends meetings and participates in other in-services as requested.

  • Participates in educational programs to enhance professional skills.

  • Follows Carrington Health Center’s policies and procedures thereby contributing to a positive working environment.

  • Makes deliveries and pickups with vehicle

  • Assists with floor care as needed.

  • Assists in keeping shops/garages clean, neat and organized.

  • Participates in annual evaluation.

  • Assists Supervisor in establishing goals and objectives that enhance the competencies of the department and actively supports the health facility’s annual and/or long range goals.

  • Maintains a professional relationship with and all staff.

  • Assists in assuring that all daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annually and annual checks/inspection/changes are completed.

  • Assists in properly maintaining all logs and reports.

  • Responds to pages in a timely manner.

  • Completes other duties as assigned.

  • Requests pre-approval of all overtime.

  • Shares in the on call schedule as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Classes in mechanics and electricity is preferred.

  • Experience in working with boilers, engines, plumbing, air conditioners, and other complex mechanical equipment.

  • Pleasant personality and has the ability to meet and work with people easily.

  • Good organizational and planning skills.

  • Sensitivity and ability to anticipate the needs of others.

  • Educational background and training that will assist the person to fulfill the duties of the position.

  • One year of general experience in maintenance work is preferred.
