RN (Radiation Oncology) Full Time - First Shift



The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivery of patient care through the use of the nursing processes and provides leadership by working cooperatively with nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Understands radiation therapy, pathophysiology of cancer and main treatment modalities and their interactions and side effects. Performs weekly physical assessments on patients, obtains medical history, social history, psychosocial history and facilitates the ordering of laboratory and radiographic studies. The RN will ensure results of these studies are documented electronically. Provides psychological support to both inpatients and outpatients, families and significant others through education and counseling. Develops and maintains radiation oncology educational material for staff and patients. Registered nurses in radiation oncology work with the nurse navigator of cancer services, to ensure proper education of patient. The Registered Nurse participates in weekly chart rounds, monthly QA, and other committees as directed by the department manager.




  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.


  • Two (2) years’ experience required.

Licensure or Certification:

  • Currently licensed in Tennessee or eligible for licensure.

  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required within probationary period.

  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or obtain within 12 months.


  • Use of general patient care equipment and communication equipment; ARIA computer system, Meditech, FAX and copier.

  • Lab sticks, IV starts and medication administration.
