Credentialing Specialist- CredentiaSource- Mercy Medical Center FT (Days)
GENERAL SUMMARY :
source verification of documents related to medical staff applications and/or reappointments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Accountable for processing and verification of documents related tomedical staff applications, reappointment of members (every 2 years), andongoing maintenance of the credentials files for current licensure,certification, liability coverage, controlled substance and drug enforcementcertification. Facilitates process asstated above with appropriate primary source verification.
Responsible for timely and thorough completion of credentialingverification process, according to the Medical Staff Bylaws, Joint Commission,and other regulatory bodies.
Assists the Credentialing Coordinator in maintaining and updating thecredentialing database as needed.
Maintains confidentiality of both verbal and written communicationregarding credential files and other documentation related to medical peerreview, quality improvement and medico-legal issues.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS :
Assists with special projects as requested.
Responsible for executing provider mailings as needed.
Provides administrative support for Credentialing Coordinator.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Working knowledge of computers and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
Previous medical office experience preferred.
