SUMMARY

The IT Business Analyst provides the critical link between the business and

technology sides of the organization by effectively discerning and analyzing

the true needs of business users; developing and modeling detailed steps that

most effectively and efficiently solve business problems; and communicating

these solutions to technology staff. The IT Business Analyst works with

business resources within the company (end users, managers, developers, and

executives) as well as business interest external to the company. This position leads the effort to gather and analyze requirements

in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Critically evaluate

information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose

high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to

a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true

needs.

  • Proactively communicate

and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information

needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as

needed: (Functional requirements (Business Requirements Document), iii. Use

Cases, GUI, Screen and Interface designs).

  • Work independently with

users to define concepts to work into the project management process.

  • Work with application

developers to translate high-level business requirements into functional and

technical specifications.

  • Excellent verbal and

written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a

diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.

  • Develop requirements

specifications according to standard templates, using natural language simply,

clearly unambiguously and concisely.

  • Analyze impacts to

software applications throughout all phases of projects.

  • Identify test

requirements from specifications, map test case requirements and design test

coverage plan. Assist in testing as needed.

  • Ensure that validated

deliverables meet functional and design specifications and requirements.

  • Identify, track, monitor

and communicate project-related issues, scope changes, variances and

contingencies that may arise during the implementation of IT projects.

  • Proactively identify

gaps required to bring project to completion and recommend solutions to

eliminate gaps

  • Assist in project management

assignments as needed.

  • Ability to problem

  • Ability to work on

multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated ability to think broadly and communicate analysis

clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, to peers, the business /

client and all levels of management.

  • Working knowledge of

relational databases and database structures.

  • Perform data mapping

activities and SQL transactional queries for analysis

  • Advanced knowledge of

Microsoft applications, including Excel and Visio.

  • Ability to work across

multiple teams in an open and collaborative way to design holistic solutions in

a fast paced environment.

  • Ability to plan and execute project plans including work

breakdown, resource estimates activity planning, resource scheduling, project

administration, and status reporting.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education/Experience:

  • Must have bachelor’s degree in related field.

  • 3-5 years of experience in business process analysis or IT data analysis experience.

  • 3-5 years of experience documenting functional, high-level business requirements within a professional business environment.

  • 3-5 years of experience with process improvement, workflow, benchmarking and / or evaluation of business processes required.

  • 3-5 years of experience leading and/or facilitating a requirements gathering session.

  • Experience working in all phases of the SDLC.

  • Possess or be working toward certification in business analysis, CBAP or equivalent

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Healthcare, Healthcare payer experience

  • Trizetto QNXT

  • Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio

  • Experience with SharePoint

  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, User Stories, and/or Test Driven Development.
