Job Summary/Essential Duties:
Serves as a liaison between Inpatient Hospital Medicine and the Hospital/Medical Center's medical staff, hospital administration, and hospital department directors.
Serves as a delegate hospitalist physician participation on medical staff committees as necessary and appropriate for the Hospital/Medical Center.
Is responsible for addressing any provider personnel or performance issues. May seek participation from the Network Chief Medical Officer as necessary.
Develops and maintains standards of hospital practice.
Consults with attending staff and specialty staff physicians and other allied health care personnel regarding patients requiring hospitalist medicine services.
Works cooperatively and supportively with the Nurse Director and in conjunction with the medical staff to provide guidance in the development, implementation, and compliance with policies and procedures in the specialty area of Hospitalist Medicine.
Assists the Nurse Director as necessary in staff evaluations and in the development of application of capital and operational budgets.
Actively participates in the Hospitalist Medicine quality improvement process.
Actively participates in the Hospitalist Medicine meetings, grand rounds, and conferences.
Is responsible for physician and mid-level staffing at Hospital/Medical Center to provide 24 hour a day, 7 days a week coverage. Oversees and participates in all scheduling conflicts, clarifications, and coverage difficulties.
Responsible for the performance of the Hospitalist physicians and/or mid-level providers at the Hospital/Medical Center.
A minimum of an MD/DO degree and one year of work experience in medical informatics. In lieu of graduate training in medical informatics, a minimum of three years work experience in medical informatics systems may be acceptable. License to practice medicine in Nebraska or Iowa; board certified by the appropriate specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties.
