Baylor St. Luke’s is home to three freestanding community emergency centers
(Holcombe, Pearland, and San Felipe) offering adult and pediatric care–treating
more than 51,000 patients annually. The hospital holds a collaborative
partnership with Baylor College of Medicine and affiliations with The
University of Texas Medical School at Houston, The University of Texas Medical
Branch (Galveston), Houston Baptist University, and Prairie View A&M
all Functions associated with donor activities (whole blood and apheresis),
including interview, phlebotomy, component preparation associated with in-house
and mobile collections, required quality control. Perform apheresis procedures.
Perform associated tasks such as labeling as needed. Follow all regulatory
requirements associated with blood collection as establish by the Food and Drug
Administration, College of American Pathologist, American Association of Blood
Banks, and the Joint Commission. May drive metro size donor coaches (size of
Metro buses) to and from blood drives; make standard assessment of vehicle and
minor maintenance to vehicles. Transport staff members and all supplies,
collected blood to and from mobile site.
School Diploma/GED Required
(2) years of experience in donor phlebotomy
Minimum Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities:
driving record. Valid Texas driver’s license.
Ability to lift minimum of 50 pounds.
