Position Summary

Perform

all Functions associated with donor activities (whole blood and apheresis),

including interview, phlebotomy, component preparation associated with in-house

and mobile collections, required quality control. Perform apheresis procedures.

Perform associated tasks such as labeling as needed. Follow all regulatory

requirements associated with blood collection as establish by the Food and Drug

Administration, College of American Pathologist, American Association of Blood

Banks, and the Joint Commission. May drive metro size donor coaches (size of

Metro buses) to and from blood drives; make standard assessment of vehicle and

minor maintenance to vehicles. Transport staff members and all supplies,

collected blood to and from mobile site.

Qualifications

Education:

High

School Diploma/GED Required

Minimum Experience:

Two

(2) years of experience in donor phlebotomy

Minimum Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities:

Good

driving record. Valid Texas driver’s license.

Ability to lift minimum of 50 pounds.

PositionResponsibilities:

1.

Establish

and maintain cooperative relationship with donors, chairpersons, staff,

patients, and physicians.

2.

Perform

donor related activities associate with whole blood and apheresis collection

according to section SOP.

3.

Complete

all paperwork relating to whole blood and apheresis collection according to

section SOP including autologous and designated donors.

4.

Prepare

component according to section SOP.

5.

Label

and inventory blood components according to section SOP

6.

May

drive metro size donor coaches. Driving of bus may be as much as 25. 50% of

work day.
