Position Summary

Accountable for staff training, quality competency checks, and

annual competency review for new and existing Blood Procurement staff.

Accountable for Blood Procurement and Transfusion Service continuous

quality enhancement programs including departmental reporting, tracking, and

follow-up reporting for Pathology Quality Plan, Transfusion Committee Reporting

and TAC sub-committee. Must review and oversee quality control, outside

testing, and completion of donor /patient pre-donation, donation and

post-donation procedures.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's

Degree - science or related field

Licensure/Certification:

Medical

Technologist (MT/ASCP)

Minimum Knowledge, Skills,and Abilities:

1.

Review

blood donor cards/ testing and other documents to insure all the appropriate/

complete documentation to provide safe blood products for our patients. Follow

testing to completion for donor related activities

2.

Accountable

for new personnel training, quality competency checks, and annual competency

review for new and existing Blood Procurement staff

3.

Insure

that proper quality is being done and that it meets expected criteria. Report,

track, and integrate information for both programs.

4.

Oversee

and report Blood Procurement and Transfusion Service Continuous Quality

Enhancement programs. Report directly in the Pathology meetings and Transfusion

Committees. Interact directly with the Medical Director and regulatory agencies

on the Quality Programs and issues

5.

Maintain,

review and revise, as needed departmental policies to comply with AABB, FDA,

CAP, and JCAHO standards

6.

Assist

with maintenance of supplies inventory, time management, and other departmental

programs as needed. Assist with financial management of supplies and ordering

to contain costs and use personnel appropriately.

7.

Assist

the department managers in Functions related to quality or compliance. Assist

with computer Functions including validations, upgrades, and additions of

testing.
