Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Performs and assures the delivery of age-specific patient care to patients undergoing diagnostic catheterization or non-invasive procedures. Provides assistance to the nursing function of care delivery.
Responsible for assuring safety from a mechanical, technical and clinical standpoint.
Initiates and reinforces patient and family teaching. Documents clinical assessments, provides follow-up to ancillary services, physicians, patients and various patient support systems.
Participates as requested and necessary in day to day supply procurement, budgeting, policy and procedure development and overall lends to the operative and clinical management of the catheterization lab.
Performs value-added activities that result in positive customer satisfaction and/or financial performance.
Lead Tech Accountabilities (Secondary Role):
Perform all primary accountabilities.
Collaborates, as appropriate with physicians and other appropriate disciplines in communicating diagnostic technical findings.
In collaboration with Physicians and RN’s has the ability to triage the daily schedule.
Has responsibility for the scheduling of techs in the cath lab and collaborating with the RN’s to assist in assigning nursing personnel to appropriate procedures.
Education and Experience:
Requirements may be satisfied in one of four ways:
Graduate of an accredited school of Cardiovascular Technology. No experience required.
Bachelors Degree in health, science, natural science, nursing, engineering or any primary science plus 6 months (full-time or full-time equivalent) work experience in the field of Invasive Cardiovascular Technology or related field.
Associate Degree or equivalent college hours (62 semester hours) in health, science, natural science, nursing, engineering or any primary science plus one year (full- time or full-time equivalent) work experience in the field of Invasive Cardiovascular Technology or related field.
On-the-job training plus two years (full-time or full-time equivalent) work experience in the field of Invasive Technology in lieu of graduation from a formal course of study.
Prefer graduate of an accredited school of Cardiovascular Technology.
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
BLS certification within 3 months of employment through American Heart Association (AHA).
ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire through AHA.
