Under direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practitioner, contributes to the assessment, plan of care, organization, administration, documentation and evaluation of patient care in order to restore and/or maintain a maximum level of health in a manner consistent with the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act and in support of the mission of Good Samaritan Health Systems. Actual job tasks may vary depending on the unit or department assigned and patient populations served. Functions within a shared governance organization.


  • Professional Development/Accountability: Assumes personal responsibility for professional development, practice, and education. Maintains a professional and safe work environment. Keeps assigned RN informed of patient needs and/or changes in patient condition.

  • Nursing Process: Assessment:

  1. Contributes to assessments through ongoing patient observations and data collection.

  2. Records and communicates data/observations. Identifies patient education and learning needs.

Nursing Process: Planning/Implementation:

  • Contributes to the age specific plan of care, by participation in multidisciplinary team processes. Includes the family in plan of care.

  • Accurately and appropriately documents in the patient record utilizing designated software.

Nursing Process: Evaluation:

  • Contributes to the evaluation of the patient(s)/client(s) responses to the nursing interventions.

Nursing Process: Problem Solving/Anticipates Needs:

  • Responds to changes in patient condition utilizing accepted principles of nursing practice.

  • Follows up on customer concerns according to policy and utilizing best practices

  • Provides care and services in a manner that strives for ongoing process improvement.

  • Contributes to the care plan process through observation, data collection and documentation.

Hours: 6:30a-7p, every 3 rd weekend and Holiday




  • No previous experience required.

  • At least one year of experience in inpatient setting preferred.

  • Experience with multidisciplinary team approach preferred.


  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.

  • Current licensure to practice in the state of Nebraska as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

  • Individual is responsible to maintain a current nursing license.

  • BLS is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO, must say “Professional Level-with AED”, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.

  • Aggression Management Training within 3 months of employment.
