Job Summary:

Under the direction of a registered nurse and/or licensed practical nurse, and/or licensed mental health practitioner and/or activity therapist, promotes and maintains a therapeutic milieu for the patient. Contributes to the assessments, plan of care, interventions, evaluations and documentation of the patient’s treatment plan.

Essential Duties:

  1. Assumes personal responsibility for professional development, practice, and education. Maintains a professional and safe work environment.

  2. Contributes to the planning, implementation, evaluation and revision of the interdisciplinary plan of care, goals and interventions for all assigned patients.

  3. Performs and promotes safe, knowledgeable age-specific patient care in a holistic manner.

  4. Provides patient care, including psychotherapeutic recovery interventions and patient education as assigned.

  5. Performs value-added activities that result in positive financial performance and customer satisfaction.

  6. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Hours: 2:30pm-11pm, every other weekend and holiday




  • Must meet one of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science

  • Academic plan to complete Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science within 2 semesters

  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 2 years of qualifying work experience in Behavioral health

  • Current enrollment in a Master’s Degree in Counseling or Behavioral Science regardless of major for Bachelor’s Degree

  • Academic plan to complete Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing within 2 semesters


  • BLS within 3 months of employment.

  • Aggression Management Training within 3 months of employment.

  • Valid Nebraska Driver’s License in good standing.


  • Two years experience in psychiatric or human services setting preferred.

  • Broad knowledge base of developmental psychology, counseling or social work preferred.


  • Must have knowledge and understanding of interdisciplinary team approach to patient care. Must be able to utilize Behavioral Science knowledge (Human Growth & Development, General and/or abnormal psychology) to assess patient strengths/needs and interact appropriately.

  • Ability to see and hear in order to perform assessment duties.
