EKG Tech possesses working knowledge

of electrocardiography and related procedures (defined in the Essential Functions section of this

document). He/she has displayed age-specific competence for all age groups

serviced by the facility. The incumbent conducts himself/herself in a

professional manner and is courteous to patients, physicians, visitors, members

of the department and all other healthcare personnel. The incumbent supports

and contributes to departmental productivity and organizational objectives by

functioning as an integrated member of the non-invasive cardiology team and

performs services consistent with his/her professional scope of ability. The

incumbent supports and exhibits behaviors consistent with the organization’s

mission and values in offering hope and healing to all.


electrocardiograms (EKG’s) on inpatients and outpatients as directed.

Assists in the

performance of stress testing as directed.

Places Holter and EKG

event monitors.

Processes EKG’s in

appropriate software system.

Assists in other

non-invasive cardiology exams and procedures as directed.

Scans Holter


Performs quality

control for EKG studies.

Cleans and maintains

EKG equipment.

Responds to Code Blue

and STAT response calls immediately upon receipt of notification.

Provides appropriate

education to patients, patient family members and care team.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Education /Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):


a minimum, the incumbent shall have received the equivalent of a high school

diploma. Additionally, the incumbent shall hold a current certificate from the

American Heart Association in Basic Life Support or Basic Life Support for

Healthcare Providers (or the equivalent thereof).

Experience(required and preferred):

No experience in health care or

electrocardiography is required.

  • For those hired after November 14, 2016, KentuckyOne Health

will verify education required by the position, through primary source

verification, prior to beginning employment. Education verification will also

include the collection of a high school diploma or equivalent, transcript, or

other written validation of education.
