NURSE PRACT-IM, Employee Health Services, Jewish Hospital, Days, Full Time


Functions as the primary health

provider for adult (ages 19-65), geriatric (ages 66 and over), and adolescent

(ages 12-18) patients on the Trauma Team. Maintains competency and stays

abreast of new scientific knowledge necessary to meet patient needs. Assures

continuing clinical coverage for the Trauma Institute Team. Is knowledgeable

and supportive of the hospital, the departments and Nursing and Emergency

Medicine. Provider will practice within

hospital and/or privileging guidelines and supervising physicians.

Essential Duties:

  • Assess patient health needs using the health historyand assessment findings.

  • Interprets test results and acts as necessaryindependent of physician input.

  • Integrates data to make clinical judgments anddecisions about appropriate treatments based on approved medical protocol.

  • Demonstrates competency in skills essential totreatment of patients on Trauma Teams.

  • Consults/collaborates with the patient, family, andother health care providers to provide coordinated, multi-disciplinaryplan of care.

  • Collaborates with co-workers to assure sustainedclinical staffing of the department.

  • Discusses plan of care with Trauma Service members andfaculty; provides and documents care in progress notes.

  • Provides educational programs for the staff and thecommunity.

  • Provides discharge teaching to patients and families.

  • Demonstrates expert ability in clinicaldecision-making.

  • Prescribes pharmacological and non-pharmacologicaltherapies within scope of practice.

  • Develops clinical practice guidelines/protocols,standards of care, policies and procedures, and other tools, incollaboration with other healthcare team members

  • Evaluates multidisciplinary research for applicabilityto patient care, assists in interpreting findings with the team andincorporates best practice

  • Participates in clinical research.

  • Actively participates in leadership activities, TraumaQI, ACS Trauma Center Re-verification process.

  • Serves as a patient advocate regarding health needs,discharge needs and psychosocial needs.Makes appropriate referrals, as needed, for complicated situations.

  • Patients evaluated only under direction of attendingphysician.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education and Training:

Master of Science

in Nursing with ARNP license: twelve to twenty-four months of specialized

classroom and experiential learning as a nurse practitioner.


At least one (1) year of related

experience preferred. Intensive Care, Emergency Department or Primary Adult

Care referred.

License and Certification:

Current licensure in state of

Kentucky as an ARNP. Current licensure in Kentucky as a Registered Nurse.

National certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Emergency Nurse

Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Current licensure in State of Kentucky as an

ARNP. Current licensure in Kentucky as a

Registered Nurse, National certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner,

Emergency Nurse Partitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Acute Care Nurse. AHA BLS and ACLS required.
