  • Composes correspondence as required to include memorandums, minutes, letters, and statistical data.

  • Completes special projects for the Operations Director - Surgical Services/Anesthesia, Coordinators/Leads, Schedule Controllers and Clinical Resource Nurses of all seven cost centers included in Bergan Surgical Services.

  • Maintains calendar for Operations Director and apprises her of changes.

  • Coordinates and schedules meetings including room reservations, dietary requests, agendas, minutes, equipment, packets and attendance records.

  • Provides secretarial support as described in #4 for special projects (i.e., joint purchasing of equipment/supplies for cardiovascular equipment) and for physician related committees (i.e., Gastroenterology, Urology, Ophthalmology).

  • Provides secretarial support to Shared Governance Practice Council including recording and transcription of minutes, coordination of meetings, correspondence and special projects as requested.

  • Distributes Clocking Transaction Reports and submits and follows up on Time Adjustment forms. Files and maintains payroll records. Distributes Pay Reports for tracking and verification to appropriate management; obtains Director’s approval and submits to Payroll.




Two to three years of experience in an administrative, executive, or professional office environment.


High school diploma or its equivalent.

Secretarial training including the completion of a medical terminology course preferred.


Advanced secretarial skills including knowledge of WordPerfect for Windows.

Typing speed of 51-75 wpm.

Knowledge of fax machines, copy machines and telephone etiquette.

Continuous reading skills.

Verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to organize and prioritize work.

Ability to deal effectively with a variety of patients, physicians and staff.

Ability to maintain composure/organization under stressful situations.

Ability to maintain function/flow in spite of frequent interruptions.

Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
