  1. Prepares room, equipment, contrast media and supplies necessary for each procedure.

  2. Provides an explanation of procedures and assumes care for physical/psychological needs of the patient while in radiology.

  3. Obtains clinical information and indication for all diagnostic and CT scans. Completes appropriate patient history/clinical data sheets as indicated by policy.

4 Performs diagnostic and CT services:

a. Operates fixed and mobile diagnostic and CT imaging equipment.

b. Operates other equipment/accessory devices as necessary.

c. Positions patient and immobilizes patient when necessary.

d. Selects proper exposure/technical factors.

e. Modifies routine procedures and factors as required by patient condition.

f. Processes radiographic films, prints scans utilizing laser images, and insures proper identification and data are present.

g. Evaluates scan for technical quality.

h. Practices aseptic technique and infection control principles as necessary.

i. Assists with administration of contrast media.

j. Performs venipuncture and administers contrast media under direction of physician.





1-2 years as a registered technologist.



Graduate of AMA approved program in Radiologic Technology or equivalent.

A current Nebraska Medical Radiographer License or Iowa Diagnostic Radiographer permit required, license or permit must be held in the state you provide services.

Certification in radiography ARRT-R from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Additional Requirements:

BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO, must say “Professional Level-with AED”, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.


Must possess a strong knowledge of human structure & function, radiographic positioning, seection of exposure factors, and cross sectional anatomy, and preparation & administration of contrast media for diagnostic and CT procedures. Proven ability to handle job related stress, must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time. Possess effective written and oral communication skills, manual dexterity, reading skills, team building skills and be people orientated.
