PHARMACY TECH I (Retail) - Full Time - CHI Health Service Center


Job Summary:CHI Health is a regional health network with a unified mission: nurturing the healing ministry of the Church while creating healthier communities. Essential Duties:

Prepares, fills and distributes unit-dose medication. Performs medication exchange at the appropriate times to the designated nursing units.

  1. Assists in the preparation of sterile intravenous admixtures which may include chemotherapeutics, cardioplegics, and total parenteral nutrition formulations under pharmacist supervision.

  2. Performs clerical functions such as maintaining prescription files, answering the telephone and triaging phone calls

  3. Maintains adequate levels of drugs, intravenous solutions, and other supplies in the dispensing and admixture areas and records appropriately on the order-book items below minimum level. Maintains an order book of items below par levels.

  4. Maintains adequate levels of stock drugs in Automated Dispensing System on nursing units.

  5. Checks for discontinued IV admixture solutions and antibiotic piggyback solutions in nursing unit refrigerator. Returns unused medications to the pharmacy.

  6. Fills and prices department drug stock-supply requisitions.

  7. Completes charges/credits daily for billing.

  8. Assists in outpatient prescription preparation under pharmacist supervision.

  9. Repackages and labels bulk oral solid and liquid drugs into unit-dose form under pharmacist supervision. Reconstitutes drugs and prepares compounds under pharmacist supervision.


  1. Retrieval of prescriptions from patients.

  2. Data and prescription entry.

  3. Prescription filling.

  4. Answer the phone for general customer service, prescription refills and resolves insurance problems.

  5. Works the cash register.26. Participates in all safety, security and infection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required and provided by the department.27. Demonstrates work practices consistent with CHI Health and department-specific safety, security and infection control policies. 28. Authorized to make entries in the medical record, consistent with and limited to the scope of the job duties and any applicable licensure.29. Must have ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse and multi-cultural environment.



Nebraska Board of Pharmacy Registration.

As of January 1, 2017, if you were registered as a Pharmacy Technician as of January 1, 2016, you must be certified upon hire. If you were first registered after January 1, 2016, you must be certified within one year from the registration date.
