Job Summary/Essential Duties:
Cleans, prepares and packages surgical instruments, implants and instrument trays according to departmental policy/procedure.
Processes instruments for immediate reuse for surgical procedures during working hours.
Inspects surgical instruments and equipment for proper function and reports any deviations for repair or replacement.
Maintains knowledge of specific surgical tray content and reassembles trays.
Reports missing equipment or instruments promptly.
Follows OSHA Standards related to universal precautions and hazardous communications at all times.
Operates equipment found in the Clean-Up Room.
Maintains instruments and equipment in accordance with manufacturer's recommendation.
Assists with the transfer of supplies between SPD/Central Supply and surgery.
Assists with the stocking of supplies in appropriate areas within surgery, including surgery case carts as directed.
- On Call Saturday 10am – Sunday 10am, every other weekend
- Preferred: A minimum of two years experience in instrument processing or sterilization
completion of approved surgical tech program.
Preferred: High school diploma or its equivalent
Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and their associated care.
Knowledge of surgical supplies and equipment.
Knowledge of medical and surgical asepsis and infection control principles.
Verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
Manual dexterity skills.
Good interpersonal relationship skills.
Ability to work under stressful and changing conditions in a calm, productive and flexible manner.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to lift and carry items that weight up to 50#.
