Trauma Program Coordinator - FT, Days


Pay Scale: $37.33 - $53.88

Shift: Monday - Friday, Days. Call required.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Trauma Director and the Emergency Department Nursing Director, the Trauma Program Coordinator manages the trauma program hospital wide ensuring quality of care and regulatory compliance for all clinical departments that provide care to trauma patients.

Essential Duties:

  • Identifies patients and completes data entry for Trauma Registry.

  • Follows care of trauma patients for those admitted and transferred.

  • Oversees the day-to-day program operations within the Trauma program.

  • Responsible for the creation of short and long term operational plans that focus on effective and efficient care delivery.

  • Develops, analyzes and implements processes in order to enhance and improve overall efficiencies of the trauma program.

  • Acts as a liaison to pre-hospital services regarding trauma.

  • Develops quality filters, audits and case reviews.

  • Maintains active working relationship with the Trauma Director.

  • Oversees daily work of Trauma Registrar.

  • Completes selection, hiring, promotion, counseling, progressive discipline and termination of assigned personnel.

  • Completes new employee department orientation, competencies and evaluations for assigned staff.

  • Acts as a liaison to Trauma Nurses with regard to Quality Improvement review.

  • Follows up with nursing staff in the Emergency Department, OR, ICU, and Med/Surg in response to trauma cases to ensure quality of trauma care and documentation. Provides education and individual action plans and improvement as needed.

  • Responsible for assessing competencies in nursing staff in regards to trauma care.

  • Evaluates and documents work performance of staff. Institutes a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) when performance correction is needed and makes recommendations to unit management on disciplinary actions up to and including termination.

  • Develops and provides preventative Trauma Education to Community.

  • Coordinates preparation for State Trauma Survey. Develops plan of correction for any survey deficiencies.



  • Current RN license issued by the State of Oregon required.

  • Current BLS and TEAM/TNCC required at time of hire.

  • Arrhythmia certification required within 3 months of hire, ACLS required within 6 months of hire and PALS required within 6 months of hire.

  • CEN and/or TCRN preferred.


  • Three (3) years of Critical Care or Emergency Department nursing experience required.

  • One (1) year experience in a supervisory/management/charge position required.

  • Trauma experience strongly preferred.

  • Must be able to apply nursing process to direct patient care through assessment, analysis of collected data, development of a plan of care, and implementation and evaluation of effectiveness of nursing interventions/actions in relation to intended goal.

  • Must be able to independently and competently manage crisis, patients and equipment.


  • Associates degree in Nursing required.

  • BSN preferred.
