Facilities Services Supervisor II


Job Summary:

This position is the highest on-site level of Facility Management leadership and is responsible for organizing, directing, and overseeing the day to day plant operations activities for a single hospital, related clinics and other facilities. May oversee clinics, medical office buildings (MOB’s) and other non-hospital real estate. Manages and has personnel mgmt responsibilities for working Supervisor I roles and/or crews and/or other related sub-departments of facilities management. May represent the Facility Manager to Administration as required. Responsibilities may include; Plant Operations, Environmental Safety, Security, Construction and other duties as assigned.

This position may include any combination of the following scope of responsibility:

  • Responsible for a single Critical Access hospital where the Manager is non-resident

  • Responsible for non-hospital properties (clinics, medical office buildings, etc.)

  • Responsible for multiple trade Supervisor I’s or multiple crews

Essential Duties:

Operations Management (60%):

  1. Management of the engineering or facilities department, and its physical assets and staff members. These responsibilities include but are not limited to the directing the work of employees, conducting regular staff meetings, maintaining performance standards and records, planning the work, and evaluating employee performance.

  2. Responsible for recruitment, selection, hiring and on boarding of new employees, training and development and performance management of staff.

  3. Ensures financial performance of department by creating and managing to all expense budgets and cost containment targets, ensuring that expenditure authority and level are adhered to, and appropriately authorizing and forwarding, in a timely manner, all appropriate PO’s, invoices and financial details to the appropriate sources.Other duties (40%):

  4. Participates in the completion of the annual PQE. Assists Facility Manager and all other groups to maintain compliance for all regulatory and compliance matters, accreditation, OSHA, and EPA regulations.

  5. Maintains positive working relationships with Facility Manager, senior hospital administration, and all other constituents and customers.

  6. Provides professional team and personal growth that meets the needs of the customer and employees.

  7. Networks with peers to build positive inter-department relationships,gain innovative ideas and sourcing of information.

  8. Leads quality and/or other initiatives within the department

  9. Actively participates in construction related activities as required

  10. Other duties as assigned



High School Diploma Required, Associates Degree or Technical Degree required with an emphasis on Business, Architecture, Engineering and/or Construction preferred.

Certification as CHFM required within 3 years of hire.

Combination of equivalent education & experience may be considered.


Minimum of 5 years of experience in hospital maintenance/medical equipment operations management with 2- 3 years of progressive supervisory experience required.

Construction experience preferred.

Must demonstrate financial and operational management skills.

Blue print reading, building codes, N.F.P.A.,.O.S.H.A., Joint Commission EOC requirements, policy and procedure development and implementation. Five years in healthcare management, construction management, plant operations management, or medical equipment management. Progressive management experience (may have served in lead position or acted in absence of management.) Effective written and verbal communication skills.
