Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Surgical Oncology Per Diem Days
As the flagship hospital of CHI Franciscan Health, St. Joseph Medical Center continues to be the regional leader in the use of advanced medical technologies and therapies. The 361-bed regional medical center is a level II trauma center with a robust cardiac surgery program that has recently received Three Star Awards for our thoracic and cardiac programs. We are also one of the largest, most comprehensive providers of expert cancer care in the Puget Sound. The CHI Franciscan Cancer Care program is accredited by the American College of Surgeon’s Commission on Cancer, and in 2015 received a special commendation for our nursing education program and support of certification in oncology nursing.
Our Oncology department has 28 beds with a 4 bed hematopoietic stem cell unit. We specialize in chemotherapy administration, symptom management, stem cell transplant, complex pain management and end-of-life care. The RN to patient ratio averages 4 patients per registered nurse, practicing in a care team model with certified nursing assistants. Our Oncology Interdisciplinary team is made up of skilled surgeons, medical hematologists-oncologists and radiation oncologists, nurse navigators and other oncology experts. We are most proud of our compassionate and exceptional quality care.
The leadership team in the Oncology Department is comprised of a Divisional Director, three RN Clinical Managers and an RN Educator. Combined, these leaders have over 100 years of oncology nursing and leadership experience and they truly enjoy mentoring and developing staff members.
