Occupational Therapist-Sports Medicine (Days) PRN


TheWoodlands Hospital

A primary and secondary care hospital serving North Harris and

Montgomery counties. Clinical services include cardiovascular services,

diagnostic imaging, women’s services (digital mammography and bone density

studies), neurosciences, pediatric care (Newborn and Level II nurseries) and

surgery, pathology and pulmonary services, and sleep disorders. Clinical

affiliations include The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s

Radiation Treatment Center, and Texas Children’s Hospital.


Provides occupational therapy services in development,

implementation, and coordination of the occupational therapy program; screens,

evaluates, provides therapeutic intervention for individuals identified with

disabilities that interfere with their ability to perform daily life

activities; must possess professional judgment and clinical knowledge to

develop individualized programs.


  1. Evaluates, plans, and implementsoccupational therapy treatment programs according to physician referral, and/orplan of care. Designs programs to meet the patient’s physical, psychological,and age specific needs; Performs evaluations, tests, and measurements offunctional status, neuromuscular, musculo-skeletal, cognitive/perceptual, andsensory/psychological Functions

  2. Works collaborativelywith all members of the interdisciplinary team, other departments anddisciplines to assure patients and customer’s needs are met in a timely manner;encourages the active participation of the patient and/or family in goalsetting and patient/family training/education

  3. Completes all necessarydocumentation as outlined by departmental policy and documentation review. Thisincludes, but is not limited to patient care charting, charge entry, completingpeer chart and peer reviews, and documenting on daily schedule

  4. Coordinates care ofpatients with other departmental and hospital activities in a manner thatfosters a positive professional image consistent with the departmental andhospital goals and mission statement. This includes, but is not limited to,discharge planning, participation in care conferences, interdisciplinaryrounds, collaborative practice groups, the student program and communityendeavors

  5. Assigns, Supervises andreviews the care of patients and duties of the Certified Occupational TherapyAssistant, and therapy aide

  6. Promotes and Supports positiveand professional customer service, while interacting with clients, guests andhospital personnel. Works collaboratively with all members of theinterdisciplinary team, other departments and disciplines to assure patientsand customer’s needs are met in a timely manner. Encourages the activeparticipation of the patient and/or family in goal setting and patient/familytraining/education

  7. Provides positive andconstructive feedback to enhance departmental operations. Completes allnecessary documentation as outlined by departmental policy and documentationreview. This includes, but is not limited to, patient care charting, chargeentry, completing peer chart and peer reviews, and documenting on dailyschedule

  8. Utilizes availableinformation management systems to support departmental and hospital goals. Thisincludes utilization of hospital wide e-mail, information announcements,policies, annual computer mandatories, charge entry, and accessing patient carerelated information. Access and use of information will meet hospital andinformation management guidelines




Degree - Occupational Therapy



Licensure in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)



Minimum Experience:
