Speech Language Pathologist
The Speech/Language Pathologist provides evaluation and therapeutic management for adolescent through adult patients with speech, language, voice, cognitive, and/or swallowing disorders in a fast paced, team oriented, multidisciplinary, diverse environment.
Evaluate patients’ abilities and limitations.
Establish treatment goals based on the evaluation, reason for the referral and team interaction.
Administer therapy according to the established plan, utilizing appropriate procedures, equipment and techniques within the scope of practice of a speech pathologist.
Educate the patient and the caregiver about the goals of the program, methods of accomplishing goals, how to perform the home program and injury prevention.
Recommend adaptive equipment, complete the equipment justification form(s) and arrange for the delivery of the equipment.
Re-evaluate patients, assess their progress and make recommendations regarding discharge as necessary.
Speech/Language Pathology and Audiology licensed issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Board.
CPR Certification (American Heart Association) required.
- MA/MS degree in Speech/Language Pathology from an accredited program
Preferred in acute care/trauma
Experienced in independently performing Modified Barium Swallow Studies
Experienced with placing speaking valves on patients with tracheostomies.
Prefer at least 1 year of acute care experience.
FEES privileging a plus.
Experience with laryngectomees a plus.
NICU experience a plus.
