Clinical Educator - Cath Lab FT (7a-5:30p/call)

GENERAL SUMMARY :

Develops and coordinates educational

activities of the Cath Lab and Cath Lab Recovery (CLRR) including orientation

of new personnel, in-service offerings, etc.

Serves the population of neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult

and geriatric.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:

  • Maintainsorientation program, which is current with clinical practice in the Cath Laband CLRR and implements it for all new staff.

  • Coordinatesand implements plan for competency evaluation of Cath Lab and CLRR staff.

  • Developsand coordinates educational activities of the department including continuingeducation of staff members and orientation of staff to newequipment/procedures.

  • Actsas resource person in such areas as policies and procedures, Cath Lab and CLRRstandards and other clinical topics, regulatory requirements (Joint Commission,OSHA) and suggests updates to policies and procedures as needed.

  • Actsas professional role model and assists staff (especially preceptors) inprofessional development.

  • Supportsand participates in departmental Performance Improvement projects.

  • Actsas a liaison between new staff, current employees, managers, and director.

  • Servesas liaison for all internal and external student programs and staff clinicalexperiences and the coordination of student observation/participation in theCath Lab and CLRR.

  • CoordinatesBLS and ACLS training of department staff.

  • Activelyparticipates in meetings and on inter-, intradepartmental, and externalcommittees as assigned.

  • Conductshuddles.

Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :

  • R.N.with license to practice in State of Iowa.

  • Bachelor'sDegree required, Master's Degree desired.

  • Minimumof two years’ experience in the Cath Lab.

  • Graduateof Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification program and completion ofpreceptorship; must be registered within one year of hire

OR completion of a two-year

training program in Radiologic technology, maintain a current Iowa permit to

practice AND ARRT registry and have 2 years of experience

OR an Advanced Medical Training

Degree (Associate of Science degree or Associate’s degree in Paramedic, or

Allied Health Profession) with 2 years of experience.

  • BasicLife Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within six(6) weeks of hire.

  • AdvancedCardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified or obtained within six (6) weeks ofhire.

  • Proofof completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to populationserved within three (3) months of hire.

Scheduled Hours per 2-week Pay Period 80

Weekends Required Every Fourth
