Clinical Data Analyst


Job Summary

In service to our clinicians, the Precision

Medicine Alliance (PMA) Clinical Data Analyst will a) influence and understand

the development and use of data systems for the PMA and b) will be responsible

for discerning and applying methods to gather, manage, organize, store and

analyze data providing actionable business insights (via reports and data analytics).

The Clinical Data Analyst will act as a bridge between business and technical


Essential KeyJob Responsibilities


Management and Analysis (25%)

  • Formulatetechniques for quality data collection and testing to ensure adequacy,accuracy and supportability, tool utilization, communications, and processes.

  • Deviseand implement efficient and secure procedures for data handling/analysis withattention to all technical aspects

  • Showsmastery skills in data analysis (reactive) and QA testing/profiling (proactive)to assess the quality of data repositories and solutions

  • Monitorand analyze information and data systems and evaluate their performance to discoverways to enhance them

  • Createand operationalize a Data Governance Plan to describe policies for effectivedata management

  • Keepcurrent with available technology to support and deliver PMA solutions

Data Reporting

and Analytics (35%)

  • Generateanalytics reports (utilizing appropriate tools) and data extraction whenneeded including providing interpretation and analytics in support of businessand technical operations

  • Establishrules and procedures for data sharing with upper management, externalstakeholders etc.


Acquisition, Maintenance, and Support (40%)

  • Takeleadership/oversight role in project-related data acquisition efforts.Provides technical and process direction, assists with LOE estimates.

  • Supportothers in the daily use of data systems and ensure adherence to legal andcompany standards

  • Troubleshootdata-related problems and authorize maintenance or modifications

  • Engagescustomers to understand and resolve inquiries, potential data issues, andfulfill requests

  • Monitorand assist to ensure break-fix and minor enhancements are completed

  • Liaisewith IT security team to understand and follow data security policies

  • Leadsquality assurance process through use of unit testing, data testing, and useracceptance testing



  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in related field or equivalentexperience


  • 5-7 years’ experience in a Data Analytics

environment supporting or developing high-value data-related solutions; 3

years in a senior capacity

  • Excellent understanding of data

administration, management, and analytics functions (collection, analysis,

distribution etc.)

  • Strong familiarity with current database and

information system technologies and techniques

  • An analytical mindset with proven

problem-solving skills

  • Excellent internal/external communication, collaboration,

and meeting facilitation skills

  • Strong written skills (software documentation,

SBAR, etc.)

  • Ability to manage/lead data-focused projects

and teams

  • Independent professional with proven ability

to seamlessly integrate into a high performing team

  • Strong understanding of data (aging,

cleansing, transactional v. historical, metadata, etc.)

  • Strong knowledge of the clinical, provider-based

healthcare industry

  • Data Tools and Systems


MS T-SQL Query, MS Project, Word, Excel,

Access, PowerPoint, Project, Visio skills required


Applied knowledge of multidimensional and

normalized database design


Advanced Microsoft SQL skills


Familiar with concepts of ETL Development Tools

(Informatica, SSIS, etc.).


Applied experience using ad-hoc query tools and

data visualization products. Examples include Business Objects, SSRS, Qlik

Sense, Tableau, Microstrategy, Power Pivot. Understands Master Data Management conceptually.

  • Data Analysis – can analyze data at the detail

level (tables, columns, rows).

  • Data Analytics – can develop and administer

reports, dashboards, and models in support of strategic objectives/key

performance indicators, trending, improvement, and reporting

  • Data Stewardship – understands the strategic

importance of data to the organization and insures its care

  • Data Governance/Management – understands, sets

policies/standards, and educates related to organizational data

  • Data Collection – understands the collection of

potentially large, non-standard data
