BUSINESS OFFICE MANAGER (CHI Memorial Hospital Georgia) Full-Time



Provides leadership and support for Revenue Cycle functions of Scheduling, Registration, HIM, Billing, Collection and Cashiering, which includes budgeting, monitoring, planning, and directing. The Business Office Manager is responsible for affecting the quality and efficiency of all areas and processes of the department. Must provide support to department supervisors with the day-to-day activities of staff to ensure compliance, superior customer service, quality, workflow and production is maintained, and accounts receivable are kept at or below national standards. Important factors to the success of this position are strategic planning for process improvement and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with other key leaders, staff, and physicians.


  • Effectively manages workflow to ensure timely completion of daily and special job assignments.

  • Monitors all Patient Access functions to ensure pre-service functions are performed efficiently and meet patient and physician expectations

  • Monitors the Medical Eligibility and Screening, and Charity Care process to ensure uninsured patients are screened timely and appropriate follow-up occurs.

  • Monitors all HIM functions to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies, must provide systems for acquiring, analyzing, storing and retrieving information so that it can be available when needed.

  • Monitors all HIM key performance indicators to ensure department is meeting facility standards.

  • Monitors A/R reports and reviews with supervisor to ensure patient accounts are billed and collected in accordance with applicable federal and state regulations, and in accordance with third party payer contracts.

  • Monitors billing and collection of patient accounts to ensure accounts are processed timely and efficiently

  • Monitors processes used for cash posting and other financial adjustments related to A/R in accordance with approved procedures

  • Assigns/review workflow based on available time and resources

  • Anticipates department needs and provides direction to accomplish required workflow

  • Ensures that daily department standards are met

  • Advises supervisor on a daily basis of operational concerns

  • Contributes to the smooth and effective management of the department

  • Ensures departmental policies and procedures are developed/maintained/audited and in place and followed by staff

  • Develops goals/objectives on an annual basis and reviews monthly to monitor achievement

  • Communicates effectively both written and verbally with all patients, physicians, staff and departments

  • Develop strong working relationships with other Directors/Managers/Supervisors within the organization

  • Ensures the timely completion of all department projects and assignments

  • Ensures the effective use of human resources

  • Maintains department at approved staffing levels and recommends changes as needed

  • Participates in the selection, training, coaching and disciplinary action of staff

  • Conducts monthly staff meetings and documents results

  • Follows up on concerns presented by employees

  • Ensures consistent application of all hospital/departmental policies and procedures

  • Ensures that all employee evaluations and department files are complete, and that all staff attend/complete all required in-services

  • Ensures continual professional development

  • Participates in professional activities and maintains professional affiliations as appropriate

  • Enhances professional growth/development through educational programs, seminars, etc.

  • Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested/directed

  • Monitors effective use of materials and time

  • Review monthly budget and maintains variances within 3% year-to-date

  • Meets or exceeds monthly productivity standards

  • Review all forms and supply use monthly revising when necessary to minimize costs

  • Constantly sees more efficient methods of operation without sacrifice to patient relations and employee morale

  • Promotes quality patient care and service

  • Assures that that all Federal, State and JCAHO standards are met on a continuous basis

  • Reviews and responds to all patient, physician and other third-party complaints/concerns on a timely basis

  • Reports all safety concerns to Risk Management on a timely basis



  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 3 years leadership experience OR

  • Minimum of 5 years leadership experience in the discipline OR

  • Master's Degree and no experience

  • Five or ore years of successful experience in Hospital Business Office Management.

  • Preferred experience with Athena, Meditech and/or Epic
