Position Summary

Coordinates a variety of Functions within the International Services relating to patient services and/or financial clearance to the hospital prior and/or after discharge). This process can be achieved through accurate and concise collection of demographic, international insurance, estimate deposit for procedures and/or reimbursement information. Requires a close working relationship with other hospital department managers, international insurances, third party payers, Embassies, and other international hospitals and entities to ensure a high level of patient and customer satisfaction with low cost risk. Requires a leadership component to ensure quality outcomes to the International Services, its physicians, patients, and their families.



  1. Responsible for orientation of new admits and/or new visiting physicians, daily consolidation of patient account activities for private pay and Embassies and provide estimates for future testing/procedures

  2. Arranges patient referrals, and/or air-ambulance as necessary

  3. Enhances public image of hospital and medical staff through marketing, educational programs, and distribution of information

  4. Reports incidents/complaints and assist in compilation of patient satisfaction NRC Picker and assume responsibility for the achievement of the department fiscal year goals and objectives

  5. Liaisons with all contractors and “in country representatives” (marketing consultants), maintain accurate records of their referrals and patient account activity.(In country representatives – 3 in various locations.)

  6. Remedies problematic situations related to international patients and their families

  7. Resolves crisis issues as they arise and assist with patient service when volume Requires additional interaction

  8. Implements new protocols to systematically resolve current problems or needs

  9. Coordinates meetings with Physician Referral staff regarding current projects and patient issues

  10. Assists patients and families offering non-clinical support, guidance, and language assistance

  11. Develops and maintain productive working relationships with nursing and other hospital staff members through meetings as necessary

  12. Keeps abreast of all technological advances to ensure the most efficient patient flow possible


Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED

Minimum Experience: Five (5) years Healthcare system experience; or three (3) years of experience with some college work

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Effective communication skills with physicians, international insurance companies, third party payers, Embassies, patients and other hospital departments to prevent potential problems and/or resolve existing problems

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Fluent in Spanish

  • Able to diplomatically interact with and maintain a close liaison with a variety of people including hospital staff, physicians, their staff, all levels of management, dignitaries, Embassies, and governments with a focus on guest relations

  • Exhibits interpersonal skills conducive to positive guest relations
