Position Summary

Operates diagnostic equipment and Performs a variety of technical

diagnostic imaging procedures related to CT. Provides patient orientation,

procedure explanation, and pre and post diagnostic care to completion of test.

Performs complete diagnostic imaging tests inclusive of positioning patient,

calibration of equipment, and documentation of findings, with the direction of

the imaging supervisor/manager. Assists patients with basic patient care needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Education and Licensure

  • Associate’s Degree

  • Registered by the American Registry of RadiologicTechnologists – ARRT (R ) (CT); must maintain current

  • Certified by Texas Department of Health as CertifiedMedical Radiologic Technologist – MRT; must maintain current

  • CPR/BLS certification

Experience

  • One (1) year experience as a Radiographer

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good alpha/numeric dexterity and handwriting skills

  • Interpersonal skills for communication with patients,visitors, physicians and other hospital personnel.

  • Must have good written and oral communication skills

Position Responsibilities

  1. Performs CT exams on patients according to the specificdepartmental procedure protocols under the direction of the MedicalDirector.

  2. Prepares equipment ensuring that equipment isoperational, safe and functioning according to diagnostic standards

  3. Problem-solves equipment failure and imaging qualityand contacts service representative or CES regarding equipment problems

  4. Ensures that daily equipment and room maintenance areperformed during/ after each procedure, and that special precautions andmeasures are performed to ensure infection control standards.

  5. Completes all quality checks and Ensures that equipmentlogs are maintained

  6. Completes all clinical supply inventories, ensuringthat each diagnostic room is complete with the necessary supplies requiredto perform the procedure

  7. Actively Participates with patient testing, performingroutine, non-routine, urgent, and emergent patient requests

  8. Reviews the physician orders to verify the type ofdiagnostic test requested and that the indication for the procedure isconsistent

  9. Communicates with Radiologist to obtain proper examprotocol/test design.

  10. Provides specific diagnostic test information to thepatient ensuring that the patient is aware of the diagnostic testinvolvement.

  11. Performs Point of Care testing for lab tests accordingto hospital guidelines.

  12. Effectively starts IVs following hospital guidelines.

  13. Completes the diagnostic examination and all image postprocessing.

  14. Demonstrates competency in PACS process and Performsdaily QA process

  15. Completes image processing, including supportingdocumentation of logs, demographic and diagnostic information required fordepartmental, hospital and patient record documentation.

  16. Responsible for monitoring and recording radiation doselevels.

  17. Notifies Radiologist with any diagnostic findings,which warrant communication.
