Job Summary / Purpose:

Under direction of a Registered Nurse, the Nursing Assistant contributes to the basic patient care activities and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of the patient in support of the mission of Good Samaritan Health Systems. Actual job tasks may vary depending on the unit or department assigned.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  1. Professional Development/Accountability: Assumes personal responsibility for professional development, practice and education. Maintains a professional and safe work environment.

  2. Assessment: Contributes to the assessment of the health status of patients.

  3. Problem Solving/Anticipates Needs: Communicates pertinent patient information to appropriate members of the interdisciplinary treatment team with direction of mod leader/charge nurse.

  4. Implementation: Performs and ensures safe, knowledgeable age-specific patient code in a holistic manner in accordance with the Nebraska Administrative Code.

  5. Housewide Activities: Performs value-added activities that result in positive financial performance and customer satisfaction.

  6. Other Duties: Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.



High school diploma or graduate equivalency diploma (GED) strongly preferred.

Required Licensure and Certifications:

Must be registered as a Nurse Aide in the state of practice.

Current healthcare provider BLS certification.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

No experience required.

Work experience as a Nursing Assistant or comparable job responsibilities preferred.

Ability to follow oral and written directions accurately and thoroughly, and observe/respond to needs of patients.

Ability to see and hear in order to perform duties.

Keyboarding skills required.

Must possess interpersonal skills to effectively work with employees, visitors and guests.

Ability to prioritize and organize work.
