Essential Job Functions:

  1. Clinical supervision of direct reports.

  2. The Lead RN will assist in the hiring process.

  3. Will meet quarterly with all direct reports to establish progressive goal completion. The Lead RN will participate in yearly associate review.

  4. Establishes trust and intimacy with direct reports.

  5. The Lead RN will assist in the disciplining process.

  6. Teamwork:

  7. The Lead RN will promote servant leadership and utilize the individual talents of her direct reports to maximize the success of strategic goals of patient care.

  8. Conflict Resolution:

  9. The Lead RN understands conflict as naturally occurring and actively works with others to facilitate positive resolution real-time without triangulation.

  10. Evaluates multiple sources of information that assist their direct report in gaining awareness of need for change.

  11. Communication:

  12. The Lead RN actively facilities understanding of individual and unit needs and promotes consistent leadership between TCs and provides Director with real time assessments of individual, group and unit needs actively contributing to unit morale.

  13. Utilizes powerful questioning, engages in active listening, facilitates learning and designs with supervises ways to recognize and achieve goal completion.

  14. Professionalism:

  15. The Lead RN inspires others in professional goal attainment and is rigorous in support of Shared governance.

  16. Acts as a liaison for nursing peer review and yearly peer evaluations follow up.

  17. Facilitate a mentoring relationship for their direct reports.

  18. The Lead RN supports and encourages professional staff involvement and champion roles.

  19. Actively pursues evidence-based practice strategies.

  20. The Lead RN encourages staff to obtain certifications.



  1. Graduate from an Accredited School of Nursing.

  2. BSN preferred or actively enrolled in BSN program.

  3. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required within 5 years of date of hire. Licensure/Certification:

  4. A licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska.

  5. Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  6. Valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.

  7. Valid Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required. Experience/Pre-Requisites:

  8. TC or preceptor experience preferred.

  9. Minimum 0.8 FTE or 64 hours/per pay period.

  10. RN4.

  11. Must be CCRN certified. Professionalism/Growth and Development:

  12. CCRN certification prior to hire to Lead RN position.
