JOB SUMMARY: In close collaboration with patient care staff/leadership and IT, provides leadership and staff development expertise in the implementation and on-going support of clinical IT systems. Provides facilitation and delivery of informatics and clinical systems education. Supports the educational process including needs assessment, curriculum planning/development, content delivery and training evaluation.



  • Knows, understands, incorporates and demonstrates the St. Vincent Health System mission, vision, and core values in leadership behavior, practices and decisions.

  • Provides leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating education/training plans for new implementations and ongoing adoption of clinical systems

  • Leads in development of training materials for and the delivery of new user (MD, RN, APN, PA) orientation.

  • Provides project support in regard to the Advanced Clinical Information Systems(ACIS) clinical projects, ie FirstNet, PharmNet, ClinDoc, SurgiNet, Care Values, etc.

  • Provides oversight and leads teams on clinical improvement projects related to information technology.

  • Provides leadership in collaboratively defining resource needs, project timelines, training needs, implementation schedules, and other associated duties to ensure timely project completion and achievement of project goals and objectives.

  • Assesses educational needs through a variety of methods both formal and informal for clinical staff and/or community education. Conducts evaluations of all projects and education for desired outcomes and revises future work goals, methods and processes to support evidence-based practice and quality care.

  • Develops curriculum and action plans to meet identified informatics, educational needs of clinical staff.

  • Works collaboratively with peers, Nursing Leadership, Human Resources, and Quality Management to identify needs and plan programs that enhance the competencies of patient/medical care staff.

  • Develops, facilitates and evaluates orientation program for staff and providers on an on-going basis.

  • Promotes goal achievement and group dynamics within the informatics team and classroom environment.

  • Uses key learning and group process principles

  • Provides and elicits feedback keeping feedback concise and focused.

  • Facilitates the development of new hospital staff member’s skills in support of successful adoption of clinical systems.

  • Utilizes effective problem solving skills in identifying strengths and weaknesses in projects, identifying barriers to progress, and creatively defines problem-solving approaches.

  • Applies knowledge and understanding of nursing documentation, informatics, nursing nomenclature and language.

  • Maintains current knowledge of regulatory standards, national patient safety goals, and other regulatory requirements in order to integrate content into systems education.

  • Coordinates and leads project team meetings as needed.

  • Monitors timelines and project resource allocations.

  • Submits status reports toward project/educational goals.

  • When appropriate, escalates issues that have potential to compromise a timeline or goal completion.

  • When feasible, facilitates the standardization of processes within and across disciplines, departments, facilities and MBOs.

  • Assists in establishing performance improvement goals along with clinical documentation quality monitors for use following system implementation of IT strategy.

  • Maintains current knowledge of clinical informatics through regular review of literature, conference attendance, and participation in professional organizations.


  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal relationships with staff, physicians, ancillary staff and all other members of the Health Care Team

  • Promotes positive department and organizational problem resolution, promotes teamwork, cohesiveness, and time management among self and other staff members.

  • Communicates IT changes/work clearly to all stakeholders.

  • Facilitates work teams that successfully assess, revise, and improve outcomes.




Education: BSN required - MSN or Masters in health or business related field preferred.

Licensure/Certification: A current unencumbered RN license to practice in the State of Arkansas is required. A national certification or education and professional membership are required within one year of employment.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years acute care clinical nursing experience preferred; previous experience with clinical information systems i.e. Cerner highly preferred. Proficiency in the use of computer applications; advanced knowledge and understanding of nursing documentation, informatics, nursing languages and processes required. Previous experience (3-5 years) in a nursing leadership role such as a project manager nursing educator, clinical resource nurse, clinical nurse specialist, or clinical educator preferred

Physical Requirements: This job requires, at various times, the following physical activities; climbing, balancing, stopping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, carrying, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, and hearing, sometimes exerting in excess of 20-100 pounds of force. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform daily activities. May be subject to inside environmental conditions, hazards (including electrical currents and exposure to high heat and chemicals), infectious diseases, and may be required to function around prisoners and behavioral health patients.

Skills: Demonstrates excellent written and communication skills with multiple customers. Displays excellent critical thinking/synthesis skills, effective facilitation and problem solving skills. Demonstrates ability to build and promote effective working relationships with multiple types of clinical disciplines. Posses the ability to multi-task, identify resource needs/problems, and implement creative solutions. Exhibits the ability to maintain composure during highly stressful situations.

Job Requirements

We are looking for a responsible and compassionate Registered Nurse with top-notch clinical skills, a caring attitude, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. It is also important to display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively educate patients and their families on the in-home healthcare process.

Additional requirements for this role include:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license that allows you to practice in our state

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program

  • Experience as a Registered Nurse preferred

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required

  • Specialty certification (ex: CCRN, CNOR, CEN) preferred

  • Additional certification or licensure may be required for some specialty areas
