Supervisor Nursing - Heart Clinic Arkanas-Kanis - Full Time Days


JOB SUMMARY: The Nursing Supervisor works under the general supervision of the Clinic Director; coordinates and supervises activities of employees of Nursing and Lab Departments at assigned clinic; trains employees to perform TMST and other clinical procedures; evaluates employee performance; provides educational inservice training; makes monthly staffing schedules; performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  1. Communication/ Education

Uses tack, courtesy, sound judgment and a professional attitude when relating to patients, families, and co-workers.

  1. Planning/ Coordination

Supervises the work of assigned Nursing Departments.

Provides appropriate staffing to assigned Nursing Departments.

Completes employee performance evaluations at appropriate times.

Performs routine clinic procedures as directed by a physician.

Responds in an appropriate manner during patient emergency situations.

Provides training to employees as needed to perform job assignments.

Provides documented monthly department meeting.

Provides educational inservices as needed.

Wears an in-house pager to be accessible to all staff as a resource and support person.

Properly handles and disposes of needles/sharps and/or contaminated waste.

Follows exposure policy and treatment protocols according to Exposure Control Plan.

Completes CPR training prior to annual evaluation.

Completes OSHA and Infection Control Inservice prior to annual evaluation.

Participates in monthly staff meetings. Offers positive and constructive remarks during the meeting.

Serves as preceptor, providing a learning opportunity for new employees.

Maintains patient confidentiality.

Demonstrates willingness to be flexible.

Practices proper safety precautions to avoid employee injury as evidenced by proper body mechanics.

Researches patient problems and effectively provides solutions.

  1. Policies and Procedures

Enforces and monitors all departmental policies.

  1. Stewardship

Is honest and trustworthy in all dealings.

Utilizes resources in a cost-efficient manner.



Education: Current RN registration in Arkansas.

Experience: Preferred five years clinical experience and one year management experience.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift, carry or push 100 pounds with assistance. Must be able to reach above head and below knees. Must be able to sit, stand and walk for prolonged periods of time, up to 4-12 hour work shifts. Needs to be able to hear, see, speak, read and write. Must be mentally alert and able to work under pressure.

Skills: Knowledge and ability to perform technical and routine clinic procedures, must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must have good organizational skills; ability to perform multiple tasks; must be able to work independently without close supervision; must be able to complete work assignments within set time periods; work must be efficient and accurate.
