RN Coordinator, Hospitalist

Job Summary

Works collaboratively within the hospitalist service line leadership team to develop, oversee and manage the employed and contracted physician practice groups within a designated market.

Essential Functions

  • Provides leadership on the development and execution of the Hospitalist Medicine Program’s clinical practice in regards to patient service, quality and safety. Acts as a resource and conduit for communication of patient safety issues between the Hospital Medicine group to other department leaders and administration.

  • Responsible for the development and oversight of physician practice operations. Demonstrates fiscal prudence and an understanding of budgetary considerations when making business decisions. Effectively develops, monitors and adequately justifies budget variances.

  • Works collaboratively with Hospital Medicine Service Line Executives to provide leadership to physicians, mid-levels and support staff of the Hospital Medicine Program, including establishment of Program's goals, upholding standards of performance, reporting Program metrics, analysis/development/interpretation of complex data (including clinical and financial data), and developing and maintaining positive relationships with providers.

  • Ensures that the department operates within all hospital guidelines, policies and procedures. Also, ensures that department meets compliance standards of various regulatory bodies which affect the provision of services.

  • Maintains Provider and employee staffing to accommodate daily schedule. Monitors utilization of Providers, managing workloads assignments and Provider skills to ensure patient needs are met. Assists in new hires and terminations of Program support staff. Performs staff evaluations and disciplinary actions as needed.

  • Assumes personal responsibility for maintaining professional development and practice, any certification or credentialing, and education, as required.

  • Identifies and explores opportunities for expanding or improving current services. Designs new ways to approach both team and organizational goals and implements improvements.


Job Requirements

Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):

Required: KY RN licensure, graduate from an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.

Experience (required and preferred):

5-7 years experience in UR/CM, PI, Quality measures. Knowledge of third party payor

reimbursement preferred.
