Position Summary:

Professional position will provide the most effective and efficient delivery of mobile heart & vascular diagnostic ultrasound to patients of regional cardiologist, physicians, advanced practice practitioners, and referring hospitals. Professional will grow and strengthen the Heart and Vascular Service Line within the outlying communities served by CHI St. Luke’s Health –Memorial through mobile heart & vascular diagnostic services.

  • Provides mobile ECHO and vascular ultrasound studies at outreach clinics within the outlying communities served by CHI St. Luke’s Health – Memorial

  • Consistently performs quality echo/vascular studies. Participates in interpretive sessions with the physician and contributes technical and professional knowledge to the final diagnostic impression or report. Analyses sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician

  • Obtains echoes of high quality allowing easy interpretation byphysicians

  • Does dopplerformulas and calculations accurately that are available and records for physicians

  • Delineates normalfrom abnormal and is able to extend the scope of the study appropriately

  • Ensures studies are read in a timely manner and communicates daily with cardiologist when exams are complete and awaiting read

  • Follow-up with referring PC physicians, advanced practice practitioners, and hospitals to ensure satisfaction of mobile services including ease of scheduling, report turn-around time and communication provide recommendations for opportunities to heart and vascular service line regional outreach clinical coordinator and service line administrator.

  • Transports, load, and unloads required diagnostic equipment to the outreach clinic sites

  • Regularly assists others in the heart and vascular service line outreach program; demonstrates a team approach to health care

  • Correlates the clinical history with the diagnostic study to be performed. Prepares preliminary reports and contactsreferring physicians when required, according to established procedures

  • Consults with the referringphysician regarding the patient’s previoushistory when necessary

  • Performs Quality Control checks on equipment

  • Adhere to performance, attendance, and professional expectations set forth by CHI St. Luke’s Health – Memorial

  • Organizational skills(managing schedules and calendars)

  • Ability to effectively communicate

  • Assists with training programs and in-services as needed

  • Demonstrates a willingness to follow the chain of command, regularly channels suggestions, criticisms, and questions to the appropriateperson

  • Regularly practices aseptic techniques and utilizes Universal Precautions, accurately logs infection control procedures in for each applicable patient procedure

  • Maintains proficiency in ancillary areas of department, e.g., patient transport, clerical duties, front desk

  • Driving record maintained in good standing per hospital insurance requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education Level

  • Graduate from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Echocardiography program OR an approved Allied Health program including but not limited to: Respiratory Therapy, Radiology or Nursing.

Licensure/Certification

  • Must have the following credentials:

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)

OR

  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

AND

  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) with American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)

OR

  • Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

  • BLS required upon hire

  • ACLS within 3 months

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Direct patient care experience, Experience in EKG interpretation preferred and/or completion of a Basic Dysrhythmia course. Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience.
