Catholic Health Initiatives Communications Operator in OMAHA, Nebraska
Rotating Holidays, 3-11pm
Answerthe telephone system console in a prompt, courteous and professionalmanner. Transfer callers to the appropriate department, individual, orpatient room.
Providepatient room information to callers and visitors in such a way as torespect patient confidentiality.
Maintaininformation pertaining to hospital events, meetings and other generalinformation.
Monitoralarms (fire, weather, etc.) and communicate emergency occurrences inaccordance with established policies. Prepare report of occurrences asnecessary.
Monitorand announce codes, fire alarms and weather warnings.
Performoverhead paging as required to impart information and locate individuals.
Maintainlists of on-call staff and physicians. Notify the proper individual(s) inresponse to emergencies.
Call inafter-hours surgical teams as directed and in accordance with procedures.Maintain log of all calls and responses.
Preferred: No previous
switchboard experience required.
Two years switchboard experience in a
hospital environment and entry level computer experience.
Preferred: High school
diploma or equivalent. Course work in personal computer software packages,
especially word processing and database management.
Advanced communications skills and the
ability to set priorities. Requires continuous reading skills, verbal
communication skills and written communication skills. Requires knowledge of
and ability to operate a switchboard console, computer, printer, paging system,
intercom, TTY/TDD, weather receiver, two-way radio base station, and
alpha-numeric paging entry terminal. Further requires the ability to adapt to
new technologies and procedures.
