The incumbent reports directly to the Director Nutrition Services. The incumbent works collaboratively with team members in the department in the areas of transporting, daily operations of the kitchen and dining center to provide high quality customer focused services.

  • Ensures safe and sanitary transportation of food carts to and from all receiving entities. The driver must adhere to driving laws and state sanitation guidelines.

  • Loads and unloads food carts at various pickup points using lift tail gate or docks as provided. Places carts in designated area. Places food carts in designated area. Secures all carts with load locks before putting truck in motion.

  • Plans daily work schedules that will best meet the needs of the department and food cart delivery / retrieval. Driver performs duties within the time lines as outlined by the department.

  • Delivers and retrieves carts at specific times.

  • Fills truck with fuel and checks fluid levels.

  • Checks operation of truck and reports any mechanical issues immediately to the Truck lease company,Director Nutrition Services.

  • Maintains sanitation of truck to assure appropriate transport of food after dirty cart retrieval by applying sanitizer to interior of truck bed.

  • May perform other duties in Food and Nutrition as assigned.




  • Technical- 1 year to 3 years of like vehicle weight and equipment specification (<26,001 GVW- air brakes)

Education/ Licensure:

  • High school or equivalent (GED) preferred


  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Current Nebraska Drivers License or current Iowa Drivers License (if Omaha position)

  • A commercial driver’s license maybe necessary depending on the commercial vehicle driven.

  • Position requires the incumbent be approved to drive by the Alegent Heath’s insurance provider.

  • Must be able to complete the Department of Transportation physical upon hire and prior to expiration.


  • Must possess knowledge and application of appropriate driving skills; strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and professional standards; good communication skills; strong change management skills; must demonstrate personal traits of a high level of motivation; team orientation; professionalism; trust; and place a high value on treating others with dignity and respect.

Working Conditions :

  • Maybe on feet a major portion of the day. Extensive periods of climbing, reaching, walking, bending, lifting and standing required.

  • Temperature extremes within the department from cooking areas to walk in refrigerators and


  • Road noise, refrigeration equipment noise

  • Exposure to potentially harsh weather conditions from 110 degrees in summer to -45 degrees

below zero wind chill in the winter

  • Exposure to contact quatinary sanitizer and glycol alcohol (winter)

  • Must be able to safely navigate wet, slippery floors
