Peer Specialist - Lasting Hope Recovery Center - PRN



Assists consumer in articulating personal goals for recovery.

Assists consumer in determining the objectives the consumer needs to take in order to reach his or her recovery goals.

Determines interventions based on consumer’s recovery/life goals.

Observes progress consumers make toward meeting objectives.

Utilizes specific interventions necessary to assist consumers in meeting their recovery goals.

Leads as well as teaches consumers how to facilitate Peer Specialist Recovery Groups

Assists consumers in setting up and sustaining self-help (mutual support) groups.

Assists consumers in creating a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP).

Utilizes and teaches problem solving techniques with individuals and groups.

Teaches consumers how to identify and combat negative self-talk.

Teach consumers how to identify and overcome fears.

Support the vocational choices consumers make and assists them in overcoming job-related anxiety.



Education and Experience

Preferred : Living and following a recovery module based on individual needs. Role Model competency in recovery and ongoing coping skills

Required : High School Diploma or equivalent.


Required: Nebraska Peer Specialist Certification required upon hire

BLS or BLS instructor certification required upon hire

Will obtain the following within six (6) months of employment:

-Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting-APS – IA only



Physical and mental health, emotional maturity and interpersonal competence. Demonstrated ability to effect planned change in a positive manner. Able to work with a interdisciplinary team. Able to appropriately resolve conflict and crisis situations. Demonstrated ability to seek opportunities for personal and professional growth. An understanding of normal and abnormal development across the life span.

Daily Schedule 8:00am - 8:30pm

Scheduled Hours per 2-week Pay Period 0

Weekends Required Every Other
