JOB STATEMENT:

Responsible for assisting in the supervision for hospital housekeeping and linen distribution processes in accordance with hospital/department policies/procedures/infection control guidelines and requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Overseas day shift environmental/linen services employees.

  2. Assist with department orientation and training of new employees and maintains documentation.

  3. Cover routes as needed either by securing substitutes or working the shift. Updates schedule on a continuous basis

  4. Assist ES Linen supervisor with maintaining all policies and procedures for department.

  5. Assists ES Linen techs with cleaning procedures as needed, properly handles chemicals and trains others in proper techniques

  6. Performs quality improvement checks and maintains statistics to improve services; keeps Supervisor informed of areas needing improvement as well as areas of good performance.

  7. Follow-up on complaints and phone calls report findings to supervisor.

  8. Helps with ES Linen PI projects

  9. Participated in ES Linen departmental education.

  10. Responsible for training of employees in proper procedures, models good performance and work habits.

  11. Communicates effectively with ES Linen Supervisor and ES Linen Lead Tech II

  12. Assist with scheduling occupants and in the cleaning of duplex’s and outside properties.

  13. Uses work time efficiently and manage time effectively to minimize waste.

  14. Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Ability to learn, understand and be capable of carrying out routine duties or assignments. Possess good knowledge of housekeeping procedures, equipment operation, infection control and chemical agents. Must be capable of performing supervisory functions.. Be knowledgeable of the Universal Precautions, OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standards and Department Safety Standards. Must possess knowledge of how to apply good body mechanics to avoid injury. Ability to clearly exchange information, both verbal and written, in English. Typing ability is an asset.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

High School graduate or equivalent. Some supervisory training preferred. Two years experience in related hospital work is required.

Licensure:

May require a current driver’s license if candidate cleans off-site facilities.
