Responsible for the planning, organizing, staffing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the activities of Patient Services in a manner which is consistent with the philosophy of CHI Mercy Health. Through these activities, develops and maintains an environment which is conducive to quality patient care. Collaborate with the medical staff and other department managers to achieve organizational objectives. Participates in the development of general hospital goals, policies, and procedures.
Reports to: Chief Nursing Officer, Fargo Division, dotted line to Hospital President.
Supervision Exercised: Lead and Mentor Med. Surg., Emergency, Employee Health, Surgery, Anesthesia, Education, Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Cardiac Rehab, Radiology, Laboratory, and Infection Control.
Inter-Relationships: Significant contact with president, medical staff, nursing staff, quality and risk, and all department managers. Some contact with patients, general public and outside agencies.
Training and experience: At least a Bachelor’s degree in nursing and five years of nursing experience, two years of which must have been in a nursing administrative position. Master’s degree in nursing or an associated field, or willingness to obtain in specified period.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development to plan, organize, direct, and evaluate the activities of clinical care departments. Requires the proficient use of communication skills to coordinate the needs of physicians, staff, and patients.
Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates: Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Dakota.
Working Conditions: Works in heated, well lighted, ventilated area. Subject to many interruptions, irregular hours, and occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. May be exposed to infectious or contagious diseases. May be exposed to emergency or crisis situations. May be exposed to blood and body fluids. May be exposed to risk of blood-borne diseases.
Physical Demands: Job is primarily sedentary. Must have ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less.
