Summary of Purpose

  • The Financial Analyst serves MHN’s vision and mission by overseeing and developing an environment of effective decision making, forecasting and sound business planning, relating to decision support, service line analysis, dashboard reporting, financial analysis, productivity processing, long-range financial planning, operating and capital budgeting. Works closely with all levels of management in order to develop and package services catered to meet the specific needs of customers. Provides timely delivery of quality financial products and services to customers. Effectively develops, executes and oversees the processes and systems that deliver financial services. Keeps management informed of progress and key steps. Creates a forward-focused guiding vision and environment of “no surprises” and exceptional customer service.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure accuracy, automation and understanding of system-wide, key statistics that drive revenue and costs. Increases opportunities for adoption and usage of key statistics in reporting and accountability.

  • Support MHN’s system-wide strategies and operational planning activities with the routine operation of all financial systems.

  • Develop and produces routine reports from financial systems, ensuring accuracy of data.

  • Audit and reconcile budget, cost accounting, productivity and general ledger systems to assure accurate and consistent data.

  • Responsible for designing tools, forms, worksheets, manuals and other materials as necessary to facilitate the financial planning and analysis activity.

  • Conduct financial forecasting for the MHN, each business unit, and related joint ventures, including financial statement analysis, preparation of pro forma financial statements, break even analyses, cash flow projections, ratio analyses, cash planning, capital planning, and evaluation of financing options, as applicable.

  • Develop customized executive dashboards including, reporting compliance with key income statement and balance sheet ratios and indicators agreed upon in the budgeting and strategic planning process, as applicable. (i.e. operating EBIDA %, net income %, days cash & investments outstanding, etc.)

  • Perform other responsibilities and projects, as justified by the needs of MHN operations, such as ad-hoc reports, feasibility studies, trend analyses, and special projects.

Qualifications

Position Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or closely related field required.

Preferred Education: A CPA, FHFMA or Master’s degree is preferred

Required Experience: 3 years of experience, preferably in healthcare.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

  • Must possess and demonstrate a strong knowledge of financial management and accounting theory and practice

  • Demonstrate the ability to lead projects, meetings and presentations with minimal oversight required

  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of computer operations and PC utilization, including database software, spreadsheet software, and Windows operating systems

  • Demonstrate a keen understanding of hospital and other general health care operations

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Notable problem solving and planning skills
